New Purchase

Just picked up the RNB ML-2900 12.5v Batt Pack & 2hr Home Smart Charger from Big Boy Hobbies in Oklahoma. First, I have to give Kudos to Bart for his superb Customer Service. I ordered on Friday, He shipped on Saturday, and I got the order on Monday...I plugged in the charger and hooked up the battery...Just as advertised, the battery was fully charged in about 1 hour and 52 minutes. Now I will have to time my hunts to see how long it takes to go dead...I am expecting the advertised 40 hours. We shall see...I know I will have to charge this about 5 times before I see the full strength from the battery.
I am looking forward to many hunts before I need to charge the battery...I am used to having to recharge after every hunt.

On your Mark...

Get Set...Go Detecting!  Sunday April 21...I got a strange 12-31 signal that stayed put and was a solid repeatable signal...thought I might have an Injun, but out pops a copro-bronze 5 Deutche Mark coin from 1983 Minted in Frankfurt, Germany. Back when I was in the service in 1986-1990, that would have been worth about $12.00...I also found 1938, 46, 51, and 56D Wheat Cents...and 1964, 65 Nickels. Not a bad hunt for 2 hours...My elbow has been bugging me when detecting for the past month or so...Might be getting arthritis...Hope it gets better, because I can not do ANYTHING with my left arm...I need this right arm to swing and dig. If it keeps getting sore, I may have to give up the detecting, or start using my shovel and a swingy thingy.

Sunday hunt 4/14/13

Been sore and stiff the last couple days...I guess I have to face it...I am getting Old...Arrrrrghhhhhh!!!
Did not find much, and been to sore to even clean off the stuff I did find. Finally got it cleaned up a bit. Found 5 wheats (1917, 19, 20, 27 and 44). A possible .925 tiny spoon (no stamp), and a pocketful of clad. I DID find "CAR" in the hole though...(dang DIGGERS)...A 1961 Jaguar E-type coupe.

Braved the Saturday Drizzle,

But did not find much of anything...The Silver is hiding from me, but it cannot hide for too long. Oldest coins...1961 Memorial, 1964 Nickel, 1966 Quarter.
After watching a video on someone air testing gold items with the e-Trac, I think I am gonna order another AT-Pro to go with the e-Trac...Unless it is a ring or a flat gold item, it is not gonna be found with the e-Trac (ear rings, chains, crosses).

It all makes Perfect Cents

Started the day off with a Friend in a park that proved to be devoid of anything but junk...Moved on to a second park, but most of the targets were pennies. Now we did dig a bunch of 1930s-1940s Wheat Cents, and a bunch of Copper Cents. Quarters and Dimes were far and in-between...I did manage 4 nickels in the 100x30 Yard section we hunted. My conclusion is that someone(s) been here before and cherry picked just the higher conductors (dimes, quarters, halves, dollars, Silver). My friend did manage 1 1950 Washington Quarter. This was the only Silver for the day. I found what I believe to be a 10K gold dipped/plated religious medallion with chain. This had me going for a few minutes until I saw the plating wore off the back and saw the silver metal underneath. I managed the medallion/chain, 1946, 52Dx2, 55, and 58 Wheats. Oldest clads were 1953 Nickel, 1965 and 67 Dimes, as well as 1961, 62, 64, 65, and 68 Cents.

I'm in a Silver slump

No silver today. Oldest coin was a 1939 nickel from the woods. Found a cool ball with tinsel and light inside. strobes multi-color when bounced. I picked up the batteries in the light I think. it was just under the leaves. $1.25 in clad for the day. Oldest coins were 1939 Nickel, 1965 Dime and 1967 Quarter.
I have found more nickels with the e-Trac than any other machine...12-12 is usually a sure nickel.

Nothing Special Today

My friends were either sick or busy, so I went to my local field to hunt for about two and a half hours. got $3.92 in clad, 1947 and 1953 Wheats, and a coach zipper pull (I think). If I get over $1.00 an hour I am happy.

Happy Hunting,
