New Friends and New Places

A New friend from Canastota came into town to do a little 'tectin' with me Sunday Morning. We were out bright and early at 7am, and the humidity was the lowest it has been in 2 weeks. That all changed by about 9am, but it was still tolerable. Hit a new to me school yard first, and my first signal was the 1946 Rosie. It was to be the only Silver for the day. Lots of 40s-60s coins, so surprised we did not find more silver. Oldest clads were '67 and '68 Quarters, and '41, '64, and '68 Nickels. A ton of 60s pennies.

Long Bike ride and 3 hours Detecting

Packed the e-Trac on my back, along with batteries, radios, pro and 6" coils, kneepads, rags, and other needed items. Put my belt with pouches, pro-pointer, and diggers around my waist. I hopped onto my 21 speed Mountain Bike, and off I went like a crazy person headed for a local County park...The ride there was like 12 miles....I hunted for 3 hours and found 1 1945 Merc, 1936, 44, 50, 57 Wheats, and 1946, 61, 63 and 69 Nickels, then made the trip home which was about another 13 miles (Went all the way around Onondaga Lake)....By the time I got home, my butt was bruised, my legs and back were sore, and I was beat....I am WAY out of shape (unless round counts)...Lots of folks and their pets in the park on Memorial Day.  A Big Thank YOU to all Veterans!

2 Dollars...1 Hole

First day of May,and the first hole I dig registers as a 12/13-45/46, and shallow (2 inches). I dig and see a target that I first thought was a token, then I noticed Lady Liberty and realized I had a Presidential Dollar coin. I rescanned the hole and discovered another in there with the first. First time I have done this...I will did that kind of hole any time.  I also found 2 wheat cents (1935, 45), and a bunch of clad.  It was a beautiful warm sunny day in the park.

New Purchase

Just picked up the RNB ML-2900 12.5v Batt Pack & 2hr Home Smart Charger from Big Boy Hobbies in Oklahoma. First, I have to give Kudos to Bart for his superb Customer Service. I ordered on Friday, He shipped on Saturday, and I got the order on Monday...I plugged in the charger and hooked up the battery...Just as advertised, the battery was fully charged in about 1 hour and 52 minutes. Now I will have to time my hunts to see how long it takes to go dead...I am expecting the advertised 40 hours. We shall see...I know I will have to charge this about 5 times before I see the full strength from the battery.
I am looking forward to many hunts before I need to charge the battery...I am used to having to recharge after every hunt.

On your Mark...

 Get Set...Go Detecting!  Sunday April 21...I got a strange 12-31 signal that stayed put and was a solid repeatable signal...thought I might have an Injun, but out pops a copro-bronze 5 Deutche Mark coin from 1983 Minted in Frankfurt, Germany. Back when I was in the service in 1986-1990, that would have been worth about $12.00...I also found 1938, 46, 51, and 56D Wheat Cents...and 1964, 65 Nickels. Not a bad hunt for 2 hours...My elbow has been bugging me when detecting for the past month or so...Might be getting arthritis...Hope it gets better, because I can not do ANYTHING with my left arm...I need this right arm to swing and dig. If it keeps getting sore, I may have to give up the detecting, or start using my shovel and a swingy thingy.
